description

Have you just been diagnosed as coeliac or advised to follow a gluten free diet?

We understand how overwhelming it can be.

We have put together a starter pack with a variety of our breads so that you can try each one of them and decide which one you like the best.

As coeliacs we really missed bread and for many years we went without, as the bread on offer was highly processed, full of chemicals and preservatives and didn't do the job for us at all. That's how The Bakery started!

We are a 100% gluten free bakery & a family business too - three coeliacs!  We specialise in real gluten free bread using only naturally gluten free ingredients.  We do not not use any chemicals, preservatives or processed gums.  We are proud to be members of the Real Bread Campaign

We make bread in the traditional way but adapted for the lack of gluten!

Even so, it does all come down to personal taste so we have our starter pack so you can taste each variety of bread.

Which one will be your favourite?

Our starter pack is discounted by 20% and includes six loaves & a packet of granola!

We bake & dispatch fresh so you can freeze fresh.  Instructions and handy tips on storing & freezing your bread is included in your starter kit.

Plain sourdough

Our sourdough is made from just flour, salt, water and seeds.  Wild yeasts and a long fermentation does the hard work instead of bakers yeast and it's this long ferment that also gives the bread is unique texture & incredible taste.

We have our very own unique gluten free sourdough starter and flour blend that creates our Knife & Fork gluten free sourdough loaves.

This loaf has a tangy sour taste and a nice open texture. You may find sourdough mildly addictive and then just like me - one piece of this toast is never enough!

This is our original sourdough loaf in it's traditional free form shape.  Each loaf is the same size but there are never two the same.

We recommend that this is best eaten toasted.

Ingredients: sorghum flour, buckwheat flour, millet flour, maize flour, potato flour, teff flour, quinoa flour, rice flour, psyllium husk, flaxseed, salt.

Rosemary Focaccia

Our focaccia has a light texture and is perfect to enjoy as part of a meal, to dip in olive oil & balsamic vinegar or even split a square of it and toast it like a panini!

It's made from our very own focaccia flour mix, fresh rosemary, lots of olive oil & Maldon sea salt.

We bake it in its own little wooden tray, which makes it really easy to refresh.

Place it on an oven tray & give it a good splash of water & then pop it into a hot oven ( 180-200c) for 10 to 15 minutes.  Do keep an eye on it though as all ovens vary.  It should be moist and soft inside with a crusty exterior. (Instructions on the packaging).

There's no need to re-heat all of it at once though - you can portion it & freeze it too.

This freezes really well - up to 3 months.

Ingredients:

Rice flour, potato flour, tapioca flour, psyllium, yeast, olive oil, milk, eggs, rosemary, salt.

Allergens:

Eggs milk

Farmhouse sandwich loaf

Lighter in colour and flavour this is like a farmhouse ‘white’ loaf.  We still use wholegrain flours to make our own flour blend for this loaf so it’s not white but it’s most probably the nearest we will make - it is delicious and nutritious!

This one reminds me of the old fashioned ‘white’ loaves my mum would buy from the village bakery.  Delicious lightly toasted, slathered with butter or in sandwiches too – a great all - rounder.

It's a good one to try for young children too.

Ingredients:  millet flour, sorghum flour, buckwheat maize flour, potato flour, fresh yeast, psyllium, flaxseed, salt.

Vegan

Seedy Quinoa sandwich loaf

A seedy tasty sandwich loaf; our award winning quinoa millet loaf with added flavour from our multi seed mix.

This is made with our own quinoa and millet flour blend and fresh bakers yeast. It's incredibly popular with all the family - a great all rounder.

Ingredients: quinoa flour, millet flour, sorghum flour, teff flour, fresh yeast, psyllium, flaxseed, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, poppy seeds, salt.

Vegan

 Cinnamon & Date Loaf

A delicious cinnamon and date loaf  to be enjoyed as a tea bread or toasted.

Naturally sweet from the dates and cinnamon, it has no added sugar so a real treat. Enjoy for breakfast, tea time or any time!

Ingredients:  millet flour, sorghum flour, buckwheat maize flour, potato flour, dates, rice flour, cinnamon, fresh yeast, psyllium, flaxseed, salt.

Vegan

Buckwheat & poppyseed sandwich loaf

Made from our own buckwheat & teff flour blend & fresh bakers yeast, this loaf is incredibly tasty with almost a nutty flavour and a very attractive malty colour.

This bread definitely stands up on it's own when it comes to flavour - fabulous for open sandwiches, great for toast or just a plain ol' sandwich.

Fabulous finely sliced for smoked salmon sandwiches or thickly cut cheddar & chutney doorstoppers - whatever suits your mood. Toasted & slathered with far too much butter is always a winner too.   Sometimes the simplest things are the best...

An incredibly popular loaf.

Ingredients:

Buckwheat, sorghum, white teff, brown teff, quinoa, flaxseed, psyllium, fresh yeast, salt.

Vegan

 Apricot & toasted almond granola

Our blend of granola with plenty of apricots and sliced almonds - absolutely delicious.

We add chopped dried apricots and toasted sliced almonds to our base of gluten free oats, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds and sultanas.  We also add  honey to give just a touch of sweetness.

400g bag.

Ingredients:

Certified gluten free oats, almonds, apricots, sultanas, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, olive oil, sunflower oil, honey, sulphites

Great find

I’m so glad I came across this on Instagram. Decent gluten free bread is really hard to find. I have only tried a couple of loaves so far which have been amazing. The best focaccia ever.

Fabulous products

Excellent Selection

I’m on my own so the majority of the selection was immediately sliced and frozen. Have tried 1 loaf and toasted it is excellent. Tanya was really helpful with delivery too. The texture and look of the bread is great and the focaccia is much larger than I expected and looks totally yummy. Sooo glad I found this bakery
I will hesitate to order again as it really good bread to but out of my affordability range without the offer

GF bread I enjoy eating

Lovely bread for toasting, sandwiches, meals on toast, and doesn’t fall apart.

GF bread as it should be

Buying good quality gluten free bread without multiple additives and bulking agents is very difficult so when I found The Bakery I had to try it to give my clients additional options for when they remove gluten from their diets. Soft, moist, dense as bread used to be. As with many nutrient dense gluten free foods the bread has a delicious taste as well It slices and freezes really well. I will definitely be recommending this to my clients.

My last order from By Knife & Fork

I have ordered several times, however my last order was not delivered as expected! My Gluten Free Starter Box was left outside my gates in full view of the road & in the sun! I was aware of my delivery time & I waited in. After 30 mins over the delivery time, I went out & that was when I saw the box. I am now using another supplier.. It is a shame as I have been very happy with the product.

Delicious Treat!

I have to say one of the best brownies I’ve had! Texture was beautifully gooey but just the right amount. The mini eggs added a delicious combination. Definitely buy again! Open to other flavours 😋 thank you!

Great bread

Having bought the starter pack I am still working my way through the different breads. It so nice to get gluten free bread that doesn't have lots of additives in. It means I can enjoy bread again.

not just gluten free

I have to follow a low histamine diet and I knew this would be a risky buy. Sadly, not for me but with the lack of chemical compounds its a far healthier version of gluten free bread than most on the market.

Ideal taster pack

Bought this starter pack to see which, if any, of the loaves I would like. On delivery I cut all the loaves before freezing and of course I had to taste each one! Thought my favourites would be the sourdough and focaccia - but now they are joined by the quinoa and chocolate and hazelnut. Yes, they are all denser than expected but I feel this is a small price to pay for the healthier ingredients. My only reservation to ordering again would be the price though. Well done for developing them - finally I have tasty bread back in my life.

Gluten free starter pack not to my liking

Really sorry but I won't be buying again. Apart from the Focaccia and the Choc and Hazelnut I found the bread too dense and tasteless.

Delicious

Absolutely lovely and delicious. Great seasonal addition. It freezes very well, too, for keeping a stock.

Starter pack

Have only tried the quinoa bread so far & found it rather dense. I thought it would make a change to the bread I make, but mine is lighter. Had a few slices of choc/hazelnut bread which is quite pleasant.

Best bread ever

For the past one year I have discovered I'm gluten intolerant. And just lately I discovered the Bakery by Knife and Fork.
Ordered the welcome pack to try different option. Fantastic!
Sincerely all delicious. My favourites are Buckwheat loaf, Quinoa loaf, and definitely the chocolate and walnut bread.

Starter pack

Although I had previously had two orders from Knife & Fork, I decided to order a starter pack, which has been ideal, trying out the varying varieties of breads, its a good way to see what I like and would order again. Thank you Knife & Fork, the breads are delicious.

Gluten free starter pack

Delighted with my starter pack. Lots for me to try.
It's so nice to get bread that tastes like bread 😀
Excellent Customer service and parcel was delivered very quickly.
Thanks

Too heavy

I thought I’d found the answer to my search for a good tasty gluten free bread, unfortunately this was way too heavy and dense a bread for me, I couldn’t even get it to toast properly. Still got the focaccia to try so fingers crossed. I really hoped I would like these breads

Great way to taste different loaves!

I’m enjoying tasting some of your bread that I hadn’t tried before e.g the focaccia, which is delicious!
Slicing the loaves in thin slices when they arrive, freezing them and then toasting from frozen works really well. I’ve recommended you to several friends and family, and to a local cafe!

Fantastic!

Ideal package to get a taste of what you do. Yes the loaves are dense, but I believe that's because they are not full of unhealthy additives. The rosemary focaccia is not dense, it is like a deliciously fluffy, savoury cake !! It is AMAZING! So good. And my daughter adores the sourdough loaf. We did find that you have to be careful not to burn the nuts when toasting the hazelnut & chocolate loaf. The quinoa loaf is our least favourite; it has a lingering aftertaste, but it is still a satisfying gluten free loaf.

Sorry, not for me

I ordered the starter pack with high hopes of gluten free bread that I would enjoy. On the positive side, the focaccia and chocolate hazelnut bread were tasty and I really did enjoy them. However, I found the sourdough bread was heavy and dense, as were the other loaves. Such a shame as I really wanted to like this bread.

Great gluten free option

Finally gluten free bread that tastes and acts like bread! It's a revelation. The sourdough is actually sour and the poppyseed bread is delicious with soup. Can't wait to try the others.
