Ordering & delivery
When will my bread arrive?
We're a small bakery and everything is baked fresh to order — nothing sits on a shelf. Here's how the week works:
Order by Sunday midnight → we bake your order the following week (we bake Monday–Thursday) → your bread is posted the same day it's baked and arrives the very next day with DPD.
So depending on when in our baking week your order comes up, it arrives between Tuesday and Friday of the week after you order. It's a little slower than a supermarket — that's what fresh, baked-to-order costs — but it means your loaf was in the oven yesterday. More detail on our bake schedule.
Can I ask for a particular delivery day?
Yes — tell us the day you'd like in the order notes, or reply to your confirmation email with your order number, before Sunday midnight. We can't promise (the ovens can only hold so much!), but we almost always manage it, and we'll email you if we can't.
How do I track my delivery?
On the day your order is baked and posted, you'll get an email with your DPD tracking link. On delivery day, DPD will email or text you a one-hour window.
Can I leave delivery instructions or a safe place?
We can't pass instructions to DPD ourselves — but you can. When DPD messages you on delivery day, use their link to add a safe place, a neighbour, or a different day. It goes straight to your driver.
I forgot to add something to my order — can you add it?
We can't add to an order once it's placed, but there's a trick: place a second order and reply to either confirmation telling us. We'll bake and pack the two together and refund one of the delivery charges.
Is delivery free?
Delivery is free on orders over £45 — it's applied automatically at checkout, no code needed. Most people get there with three or four loaves (they freeze beautifully — see below).
Can I collect from the bakery? Do you deliver abroad?
Sadly not — we're a working bakery in a farmyard with no shop counter, so everything goes by DPD. And we deliver to the UK only (gluten-free bread doesn't enjoy a week in customs).
Sold out?
Why is the bread I want sold out?
Each week we can only bake so many loaves — around 400 a day, and only 200 sourdough — and most weeks we sell every single one. The shop restocks Monday at 6:30am, and favourites (focaccia, we're looking at you) can be gone the same day.
Tap "Email me when available" on any sold-out product and you'll get an automatic email the moment it's back. No need to write to us — the robot is faster than Tanya.
It's sold out — but I can still subscribe? How does that work?
Subscribers are baked for first, every week, before the shop opens to everyone else. That's the whole point of a subscription here: in sell-out weeks, subscribers still get their bread — guaranteed. Plus 5% off, every order.

Subscriptions
How do I skip a delivery, pause, or change my bread?
It's all self-serve, any time: log in to your account → Manage subscription — there you can skip a delivery, change loaves, change address, pause or cancel. Changes made before Sunday midnight take effect for the following week's bake.
When does my subscription bread arrive?
Your order drops into our system on your renewal date, is baked during the following week (Monday–Thursday), and arrives the day after it's baked — same rhythm as any order. Your renewal reminder email always arrives a few days before payment is taken.
My subscription payment failed — will I still get my bread?
Don't worry — the system retries automatically once you've updated your card in your account. If you're worried it's cut things fine for this week's bake, reply to any of our emails with your name and we'll check your order is in the week's list.
The bread
Is everything really gluten free?
Yes — everything. We're a 100% dedicated gluten-free bakery: no wheat flour has ever entered the building, so there's no cross-contamination to worry about. We bake for coeliacs first and foremost — and for The Fat Duck and Selfridges, who seem to like it too.
What about other allergens — dairy, eggs, nuts, soya?
Every product page lists its full ingredients and allergens — always check there before you order, especially our focaccia and speciality loaves, as recipes differ from loaf to loaf. If anything's unclear, contact us before ordering and we'll tell you straight.
How should I store it? Can I freeze it?
Freeze it, absolutely — it's the house method. Your bread arrives the day after baking with no preservatives, so: eat what you'll enjoy in the first couple of days, slice the rest and freeze it on arrival. Toast or defrost slice by slice and it's as good as bake day. In hot weather, get it into the freezer as soon as the parcel lands.
Can my loaves come sliced?
Not at the moment, we're afraid — our slicing machine and our early mornings are both rather finite. Most of our loaves slice beautifully at home with a decent bread knife, and if you slice before freezing you can toast straight from frozen.
That said, we are considering offering slicing as a pay-extra service on orders. If you'd like that, email us and tell us — the more of you ask, the faster it happens.
Is the flour organic? Do you sell your starter?
Our gluten-free flours aren't certified organic — the specialist blends we use are already eye-wateringly expensive, and organic versions would make the loaves unaffordable. Our supplier confirms the gluten-free grains aren't treated with glyphosate. And no, the sourdough starter stays home — it's the one thing we won't post!
If something goes wrong
My delivery is late, lost, or arrived damaged
We're so sorry — DPD occasionally lets a parcel down, and because it's fresh bread, a day late can mean ruined. Our promise is simple: if a delivery fails, we rebake your order fresh on the very next bake day, or refund you in full — never accept a stale parcel on our account. Email us your order number and what happened, and Tanya will sort it.
Something's not right with the bread itself
Tell us — with a photo if you can. Every loaf is made by hand and checked, but if one's got through that isn't up to scratch we'll replace or refund it, no quibble. Honest feedback also genuinely shapes what we bake.
Wholesale & trade
Can you supply our café / shop / kitchen?
We already bake for cafés, farm shops and some rather nice restaurants. Capacity is limited (our regulars come first), but tell us about you via the wholesale registration form and we'll send the trade price list — and when a slot opens, you're on the list.
