Have you just been diagnosed as coeliac or advised to follow a gluten free diet?

We understand how overwhelming it can be.

We have put together a starter pack with a variety of our breads so that you can try each one of them and decide which one you like the best.

As coeliacs we really missed bread and for many years we went without, as the bread on offer was highly processed, full of chemicals and preservatives and didn't do the job for us at all. That's how The Bakery started!

We are a 100% gluten free bakery & a family business too - three coeliacs!  We specialise in real gluten free bread using only naturally gluten free ingredients.  We do not not use any chemicals, preservatives or processed gums.  We are proud to be members of the Real Bread Campaign

We make bread in the traditional way but adapted for the lack of gluten!

Even so, it does all come down to personal taste so we have our starter pack so you can taste each variety of bread.

Which one will be your favourite?

Our starter pack is discounted by 20% and includes six loaves.

We bake & dispatch fresh so you can freeze fresh.  Instructions and handy tips on storing & freezing your bread is included in your starter kit.

Plain sourdough

Our sourdough is made from just flour, salt, water and seeds.  Wild yeasts and a long fermentation does the hard work instead of bakers yeast and it's this long ferment that also gives the bread is unique texture & incredible taste.

We have our very own unique gluten free sourdough starter and flour blend that creates our Knife & Fork gluten free sourdough loaves.

This loaf has a tangy sour taste and a nice open texture. You may find sourdough mildly addictive and then just like me - one piece of this toast is never enough!

This is our original sourdough loaf in it's traditional free form shape.  Each loaf is the same size but there are never two the same.

We recommend that this is best eaten toasted.

Ingredients: sorghum flour, buckwheat flour, millet flour, maize flour, potato flour, rice flour, psyllium husk, flaxseed, salt.

Vegan

Allergens:

Made in a facility that handles nuts, milk, egg, sulphites & soya

Rosemary Focaccia

Our focaccia has a light texture and is perfect to enjoy as part of a meal, to dip in olive oil & balsamic vinegar or even split a square of it and toast it like a panini!

It's made from our very own focaccia flour mix, fresh rosemary, lots of olive oil & Maldon sea salt.

We bake it in its own little wooden tray, which makes it really easy to refresh.

Place it on an oven tray & give it a good splash of water & then pop it into a hot oven ( 180-200c) for 10 to 15 minutes.  Do keep an eye on it though as all ovens vary.  It should be moist and soft inside with a crusty exterior. (Instructions on the packaging).

There's no need to re-heat all of it at once though - you can portion it & freeze it too.

This freezes really well - up to 3 months.

Ingredients:

Rice flour, potato flour, tapioca flour, psyllium, yeast, olive oil, milk, eggs, rosemary, salt.

Allergens:

Egg, milk

Farmhouse sandwich loaf

Lighter in colour and flavour this is like a farmhouse ‘white’ loaf.  We still use wholegrain flours to make our own flour blend for this loaf so it’s not white but it’s most probably the nearest we will make - it is delicious and nutritious!

This one reminds me of the old fashioned ‘white’ loaves my mum would buy from the village bakery.  Delicious lightly toasted, slathered with butter or in sandwiches too – a great all - rounder.

It's a good one to try for young children too.

Ingredients:  millet flour, sorghum flour, buckwheat flour, maize flour, potato flour, fresh yeast, psyllium, flaxseed, salt.

620g

Seedy Quinoa sandwich loaf

A seedy tasty sandwich loaf; our award winning quinoa millet loaf with added flavour from our multi seed mix.

This is made with our own quinoa and millet flour blend and fresh bakers yeast. It's incredibly popular with all the family - a great all rounder.

Ingredients: quinoa flour, millet flour, sorghum flour, teff flour, fresh yeast, psyllium, flaxseed, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, poppy seeds, salt.

 Cinnamon & Date Loaf

A delicious cinnamon and date loaf  to be enjoyed as a tea bread or toasted.

Naturally sweet from the dates and cinnamon, it has no added sugar so a real treat. Enjoy for breakfast, tea time or any time!

Ingredients:  millet flour, sorghum flour, buckwheat flour, maize flour, potato flour, dates, rice flour, cinnamon, fresh yeast, psyllium, flaxseed, salt.

620g

Buckwheat & poppyseed sandwich loaf

Made from our own buckwheat & teff flour blend & fresh bakers yeast, this loaf is incredibly tasty with almost a nutty flavour and a very attractive malty colour.

This bread definitely stands up on it's own when it comes to flavour - fabulous for open sandwiches, great for toast or just a plain ol' sandwich.

Fabulous finely sliced for smoked salmon sandwiches or thickly cut cheddar & chutney doorstoppers - whatever suits your mood. Toasted & slathered with far too much butter is always a winner too.   Sometimes the simplest things are the best...

An incredibly popular loaf.

Ingredients:

Buckwheat, sorghum, white teff, brown teff, quinoa, flaxseed, psyllium, fresh yeast, salt.

Not as expected

I was looking forward to receiving this bread as my usual supplier had gone out of business. It looked fine and I toasted my first slice and was ready to love it .
The outside was lovely and crunchy but the inside (to my taste at least) was very dry with a strange texture . I felt really disappointed and endevoured to try it again the next day thinking it might be my imagination but no I still did not like the texture which kind of lingered in the mouth. Very sad as I can appreciate the difficulties of making gluten free bread. However I would like you to know that the friend who recommended you to me "loves it"

The Focaccia and Sourdough are bangin!

I only recently started GF. I've had GF in the past but they tend to be naff tasting.
But I'm very impressed by these two breads!

Farmhouse Sandwich Loaf

Not for me I’m afraid. Didn’t like the taste at all.

Sliced Sourdough

After a gut virus a few years ago I found I couldn’t eat wheat. A lot of the breads sold in supermarkets are very disappointing to say the least. Then I heard about the Knife and Fork bakery. I usually put in a fairly large order for different breads and freeze them. I ordered the large sliced sourdough last time I haven’t had it before. I will certainly order again. I love sourdough but shop bought is a disappointment but this is great with mashed avocado on top it’s delicious

A very tasty Taster Pack

I was delighted to get my pack. I tried every one of the 6 loaves fresh before I froze them. They are all different and all very flavourful. - Favourites?? - I love the nutty(ish) texture and the taste of the Quinoa loaf; and the Rosemary Focaccia makes the most wonderful cheese toasties ever - soft and full of flavour. Both these loaves will be on my shopping list next time along with others that I want to try.

Delicious!

Absolutely delicious! Couldn’t recommend high enough. I struggled to find good gluten free in France so I even brought it frozen with me for my regular supply!

Best gluten free bread

At first, the taste and texture felt a bit unusual, but it quickly grew on me. I’ve tried many gluten-free breads, yet none came so close to the flavor and feel of wheat bread as this one. Yes, it’s dense—but that’s part of its charm, reminding me of the homemade artisan bread sold in my hometown in Portugal. A true find for bread lovers.

Totally Delicious

I love bread and when I was recently told it is likely I have Celiac Disease I was almost distraught to think I wouldn't be able to enjoy bread again. Having tasted some 'off the supermarket shelf' gluten free breads, I was not a little worried as to my fate! However, your company has completely restored my faith and I need worry no longer....all the breads in the taster pack were absolutely delicious and freshly made with natural ingredients. Thank you so very much. My wife prefers to follow a gluten free diet anyway and she is absolutely delighted too, Have no doubt we will become regular customers - we cannot thank you enough.

Large Plain Sourdough

Very distinctive sourdough flavour. Delicious fresh or toasted. Makes a great open sandwich. Best tasting GF sourdough I’ve found.

Additive free bread

I have really enjoyed the sliced sourdough, it’s so convenient to freeze .
I split it into four sections so there isn’t any waste and I can defrost as necessary.
It’s obviously expensive but I only have bread for breakfast as a rule so lasts quite some time.
I’m really pleased to have discovered your natural product as a coeliac.
Keep up the good work.

Dinner Party Special!

We are both coeliac and our home is gluten-free. I recently served the Kalamata olive Focaccia Bread and the Cumin & Turmeric loaf at a dinner party, and all my (non-coeliac) guests raved about the breads. The focaccia was the particular favourite, but guests also commented on how lovely the other loaf was too. Great result!

The best Glutenfree Sourdough Bread

This is the first time we have used knifeandforkbakery and we are more than pleased. We follow a Keto way of eating and we love Sourdoough bread, never found a glutenfree one, that satifies our standard, without all the nasties in it. I have baked my own bread, in the past. So we were delighted to try the large, glutenfree, Sourdough loaf. it is what I expect, a Sourdough to be like. I made toast. A good crunchiness on the outside. it has a lovely nutty flavour to it. Absolutely delicious. Highly recommend. Best glutenfree one I have tasted. All ready recommended to my Glutenfee friends. i have portioned into for two people and frozen, so I don,t eat all at once. Will be buying again.

I absolutely loved the gluten free starter pack!
There was so much to choose from, and everything tasted great. I've popped most of it in the freezer, so it will last me quite a while. A fantastic option for anyone looking for delicious gluten-free choices!

Delicious

The best I’ve found so far is. As a celiac I’ve missed real bread. I popped the starter loaves into the freezer on delivery then baked in the oven when needed and wow amazing to smell bread again in the house.

Delicious

This loaf is full of flavour and delicious toasted. I love it with mashed avocado and a poached egg on top. It’s just as tasty with marmalade or jam.

Better than Italian?

I’m newly diagnosed as gluten intolerant and was struggling to find any nice bread at all until I found your bakery. This focaccia was the best I have ever tasted and that includes all the ones I’ve eaten in Italy that had gluten in them! What a treat 😋

Delicious flavour

We have tested a lot of gluten free breads and this is olive one is definitely one of our favourites. Holds together well. Firm texture and nice toasted but flavour is the star. Love that they are non UPF

Impressive

This is definitely a company that delivers what they promise. Their products are very fresh, and made with very high-quality ingredients. The variety of items on offer is also impressive. The bread does not last long unless frozen, which shows it is definitely preservative-free. Not all were to my taste, but that is personal preference. The customer service is also excellent! You can tell the company care about their customers. I would highly recommend this independent outfit to all!

I did like the focaccia - soft and moistly moorish. It toasted well too. The fruity round loaf was ok; the other loaves sadly rather disappointing - and went mouldy v quickly.

Perfect for my dietary requirements. All their products are great!

Lovely toasted! Love all their products.

Very happy customer

The starter pack is such a wonderful way to be introduced to the different breads available. We loved them all.
The focaccia is now our weekly order.

Tasty and Different

The apricot and pumpkin seed loaf is tasty and different. You can eat it with savoury or sweet spreads. I have enjoyed it with honey, jam and nut butters. I'm sure it will go well with cheese. Excellent.

Haven't tried all the loaves yet,but the ones that I have tried have been very moreish

Very tasty

Lovely bread!

Have only tried 2 types from the starter pack so far (Cinnamon & Date, and Buckwheat and Poppy Seed), but as The Bakery has emailed me asking for a review, I will say that what I have tried is lovely bread, and as advertised, has a great texture for the type of product it is. I would have given 5 stars if there was an everyday loaf with organic ingredients.
