Delicious! Do not hesitate 👏🏻
To all those who have written negative comment, you cannot expect gluten free bread to be the same as bread with gluten. Gluten gives the particular structure to traditional bread. Embrace this gluten free bread as a delicious, albeit different, alternative to traditional made with ‘unprocessed’
ingredients.
I have used many brownie kits in the past, this one is by far the best. Very fudge with a lovely chocolate flavour. Great easy to follow recipe instructions.
I used half the kit to make a small batch. The only problem I had was after taking half of the dry mix from the bag the seal on the bottom of the bag popped open spilling some of it's contents on the floor. So handle with care.
Haven't tried the focaccia yet, and am still hoping that one lives up to my expectations, but extremely disappointed with the other loaves I ordered (choc/hazelnut, Christmas, cinnamon/date). From the reviews I'd read I was expecting great things but this bread really reminded me of very early gluten-free loaves - they taste what I call 'worthy' - they don't taste like bread at all. And they don't toast well either. They're in my freezer but tbh I may just bin them as I really don't want another slice. Sadly, for me, a waste of money. Much prefer my usual Schär wholesome seeded loaves.
Knife and Fork Bakery loaves taste great, I haven't had one I didn't like yet, yes, it is very pricey and I can't afford to eat it every day, but I buy when I can.
The first time I purchased, I was a little disappointed as, like others, I hoped/expected it would be like regular bread, it is not and I've not found any gluten free loaf that comes near the artisan bread I used to eat before I had to give up gluten.
So put aside that expectation, so far, all gluten free artisan bread that I've tried, has been dense and hard by comparison, excluding supermarket bread, which is blown up and stuffed with additives. Try this with an open mind and concentrate on the crunchy toast it makes and on the flavours.
I love the sourdough toasted with cheese, all of this bread, in my opinion is better toasted, I don't like it fresh at all, I'm afraid I still prefer the supermarket stuff for a sandwich. You can't beat it for toast though, the flavours are really good, especially the Christmas loaf, that's wonderful, it toasts lovely and pairs really nicely with my homemade whisky marmalade. Cinnamon date is wonderful too, I like that with a little fig jam, yum! They're not too sweet either, that's another issue with supermarket breads, always sugar in it, whether sweet or savoury and the sweet ones are sickly.
Lastly, don't try and slice these loaves thin, it's inclined to crumble, some more than others. I like mine quite thick and two small, but chunky slices, make me a great breakfast. It all freezes great and lasts me for months. I was supposed to review the rosemary focaccia, but that has enough 5 star reviews, it doesn't need another one!
The buckwheat and poppy seeds load is a nice bread, slices very well and toasts very well. Of all the Knife & Fork bread, this is the only bread that toasts like the gluten sliced bread and gives the same crunchy bite.
The sourdough can also be a nice addition to your orders. It has a tang to it.
I had also ordered most recently the season's Christmas loaf which has the same base but was described to have raisins, crystallised ginger and walnuts. This loaf was tasteless and poor with the described ingredients. It had no ginger (AT ALL), a couple of walnuts with a few raisins, which is a shame, really,
The cinnamon and dates loaf, which is a fixture, and my favourite, could use of a bit more cinnamon in it. There is no consistency whats over. Its taste changes with every order as the flavouring ingredients at times are almost non existent. If the bread is advertised as "cinnamon and date", one has to be able to taste these ingredients.
Overall, the loaves are GF with some nice and high quality flours mixtures. They are not to be compared with commercial GF breads, they are different. They all slice well and freeze well.
The baker/owner should stick to a one nice recipe for the flavoured breads and should add enough of the described/listed ingredients. Otherwise, it is a disappointment for the clients and also too much to sell them at £6.85.
I was so excited to receive my Gluten Free Starter Pack of bread. Unfortunately the pleasure soon ended when I received my 6 loaves. While each loaf looked lovely they were unbelievably hard and several loaves crumbled when cut. After reading the reviews my expectations were high and I was looking forward to tasting bread like I had never tasted before. That was true but for the wrong reasons. All in all, extremely disappointing, very poor quality and clearly not worth the high price paid. The search for the best GF bread continues meanwhile it’s back to the good old supermarket bread.
A real Christmassy taste
As good as any gluten focaccia - don’t think you would know unless told. One of our favourites
Really love this loaf. Very tasty and great it is sliced.
Love this. l call it this my Christmas panettone which hopefully l can have all year round. Slightly toasted, goes down a treat with coffee it tea.
This is a good substitute for someone with allergies.
Have deducted a star for the price. Extremely expensive for the size
I now order bread from this bakery regularly. I make sure I never run out. I like variety so tend to change up the loaves I get but the Seedy Sourdough is one of mu absolute favourites, I nearly always get it. It tastes great with sweet or savoury toppings or dunked into soup. It's great to know that it doesn't only taste good but is completely UPF free and really good for you.
Absolutely delicious GF bread, well recommended! Very pleased that I have found you, thank you!
I can just about remember eating 'real' bread with gluten and it didn't taste as good as this! Freezes very well and reheats to good as new. Well worth the price
I love this bread so much I asked to change my regular order to include more of it…unfortunately that’s not happened yet. I have emailed the bakery to bring it to their attention, but am still waiting to hear back. I presume the Xmas rush is delaying matters but I do hope to get a reply soon. Thanks for making fantastic bread! Kindly, Shelley 🤗 🎄
What a delightful winter combination - stem ginger, walnut and raisin. It's a wonderful Christmas treat for those who avoid gluten and want something as near to 'real bread' as possible. It ticks all the boxes for taste and consistency.
